Sat, 26 September 2009 So, the Broken Lampcast is over. It's a sad thing to say, but it's true. However, that doesn't mean we're all going away. No, we've all started a hot new thing over at nonewgames.com! And here, we present to you the first episode of our podcast, with a special foreword by Broken Lamp. On this week's show, we talk about Batman, how ODST we are, Activision being completely crazy, Scribblenauts, and the failure of the games press. Enjoy! Comments[0] |
Tue, 1 September 2009 So what happens when only two out of five people in a podcast show up? Well, you take all the bloopers you've been saving for a rainy day, and make this thing. Also, this might technically be the last Broken Lampcast, but we'll see about this.Comments[0] |
Wed, 26 August 2009 When I was a kid, during one of my first times playing basketball, I tried to steal the ball after the whistle blew. I caught my foot on the back of someone's leg, fell down, did the splits, and cried. That's why you should STRETCH! Today on the podcast, the cast sans Sleeping Beauty talk about crazy games, crazy people, good times, bad times, and other generic ways to describe what usually happens on the show. Also, we'll probably have a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT next week! Earth shaking! Booty quaking! Crazy! But for now, listen to this damn podcast we made!Comments[0] |
Mon, 17 August 2009 GRAPHS GRAPHS GRAPHS GRAPHS GRAPHS. DATA AND GRAPHS. Now that my performance art piece about academia is done, it's time to talk about this episode of the podcast! The full cast is on, poppin', and yellin' about video games, as we discuss things like the cost of games, how awesome the Sega Genesis is 20 years later, and how much jumping puzzles suck. Remember to send in your questions to brokenlampcast@gmail.com, and spread the good word about this good show to your good friends. And for your bad lady friends, tell them especially to email us.Comments[0] |
Mon, 10 August 2009 So tech issues killed our last episode, and other issues nearly killed this one. BUT, it was salvaged and reconstructed by hand in Chinese factories to be brought to you this week! I really have no recollection of this show other than our audio set up was retarded, problematic, and then TokyoChicken's internet started dying. Oh, and it's with me, Jastaz, Dave, Tokyo, and Jacki. NOW ENJOY THE SHOW.Comments[0] |
Sat, 25 July 2009 What kind of cohost would you want? Would you want someone funny? Someone who likes video games? Someone who lives nearby? Well here on the Broken Lampcast, our cohost Jastaz is all those things, PLUS he breaks into my house to get shows done. This week, we bring back the game reviews for Ghostbusters and UFC Undisputed 2009, as well as take on several strange issues in the gaming industry over the last week. Send in all questions, comments, and feedback to brokenlampcast@gmail.com, and enjoy the show!Comments[1] |
Tue, 14 July 2009 A little late, but no dollars short! The Broken Lampcast is in the goofy stance on the skateboard, and you'll get to hear the crew skitch behind such crazy cars like Bioware saying violence is on it's way out, a real life professional troll, things that may increase your weight, and some hippie's car that has all these bumper stickers about not being part of the problem and stuff. And then at the end, we hop off our board at the Monster Ranch! Okay, so, I took the terrible analogy last week as a challenge, so if none of that makes sense, just take my word for it that it's a good show.Comments[1] |
Fri, 10 July 2009 Strep Throat was a wild horse, but Broken Lamp broke it in regardless! And now he rides that horse on the radio! Jastaz has been brushing it, Dave swats the flies off of it, Jacki gave it the shots, and TokyoChicken makes a guest appearance is the young farmhand learning about life! That is maybe the worst metaphor I've ever come up with. Anyways, on this episode, we discuss things like Chopin, pirates, glitching out a dungeon, gardening, disease, and Final Fantasy 7. Remember to send in your questions to brokenlampcast@gmail.com, and to share this with your friends, your buddies, internet or real.Comments[1] |
Mon, 6 July 2009 This week on the Broken Lampcast, there's no Broken Lamp! But don't be afraid; the rest of the cast manages to show up without fail, and discuss the Podcast Plague, video games, movies, video game movies, and severely awesome pack in deals. While there's no questions this week, you can still send them in to brokenlampcast@gmail.com and we'll answer them on the next show. Remember, we thrive on your support. Comments[0] |
Sat, 4 July 2009 I saw Transformers 2 hours after this was recorded. The next day, I suffered from a terrible migrane that morphed into strep throat, an ear infection, a "productive" cough, and pink eye. Don't see Transformers 2, everyone. But do listen to the Lights Out, where we talk about babies, Natal, and other stuff! Comments[0] |
Thu, 25 June 2009 On this episode, we let the Ghostbusters devs tell you their game is bad, watch Activision Blizzard run around the room making airplane noises, and inaccurately predict winners for the E3 Game Critics Awards- although that's more because we chose Scribblenauts for half the categories. Join Broken Lamp, Jastaz, and Jacki Jinx on an awesome aural adventure alliteration alligator ride!Comments[0] |
Mon, 22 June 2009 On this episode, Lamp, Jastaz & Jacki discuss things like the current state of movie games, detective stories, cheap games, and what a dysfunctional relationship would be like between a man and his bionic wife. You can send in your questions to brokenlampcast@gmail.com, and remember, we thrive on your support.Comments[1] |
Wed, 17 June 2009 On this episode, Lamp, Jastaz & Jacki (who gives a fuck about an Oxford Comma?) discuss what happens when a studio that takes years to make games annualizes a franchise, the unofficial Broken Lampcast E3 2009 Game of Show, and we answer your questions! If you want to send in your own, email to brokenlampcast@gmail.com. And remember; we survive, and even thrive on your input and support. So don't hesitate to listen to back episodes, to share the show, and to send in emails- questions, comments, feedback, we read it all. We thank you for everything you do.Comments[1] |
Sat, 13 June 2009 Hey everyone! Broken Lamp here, and we're starting some bold experimentation and stuff here at the Broken Lampcast, such as smaller episodes and all that. This is part one of a larger podcast, and the full version will be up later in the week. In this episode, Jastaz, Jacki and I talk about Nintendo's E3 press conference. We relish in Jacki's pain, share some horrible truths about Wii Sports Resort, and find the man to blame for the shift from hardcore heaven to vitality sensor hell!Comments[1] |
Wed, 3 June 2009 Goddamnit this show is taking a while to go up. Lamp, Dave, TokyoChicken, and our secondary Canuck, Civvie, all come on to discuss E3 from EA on monday to Sony on Tuesday. We'll cover everything else later in the week, but for now, enjoy this episode. If it ever gets uploaded.Comments[1] |
Mon, 1 June 2009 The E3 is here, and we are a video game thing so we must cover it! Such is it's compelling nature! For round 1, we talk about the Microsoft press conference, and how ultra rad it was or wasn't. Which was it? You'll just have to listen to find out!Comments[1] |

Sun, 10 May 2009 THE LAMPCAST IS BACKCAST! There's a full episode in production as you read this. Before that show was recorded, though, Mark and I sat down and had a discussion on Six Days In Fallujah, games as documentaries, technology undermining message, and more. There will likely be more episodes like this in the future as significant issues arise.Comments[0] |

Mon, 16 March 2009 Since this is the first Lights Out since the expansion, I thought I'd review what this is.
We run a chat channel on an IRC server, and for a set amount of time (15-30 minutes) we answer any question that's asked in the chat, and then we put that up before the show with enough editing to make it listenable. An appetizer before the actual show comes up hours later.
Enjoy! Comments[1] |
